COMMON NAME: GARDEN ANGELICA, WILD CELERY, NORWEGIAN ANGELICA
DESCRIPTION: BOLD PLANT WITH A LARGE GREENISH WHITE UMBEL, COMPOUND LEAVES, A LONG HOLLOW STEM, AND A LONG, THICK, FLESHY ROOT.
THE STEMS HAVE A FLAVOUR SIMILAR TO LICORICE. LIKES A RICH MOIST SOIL. IN TEMPERATE AREAS IT IS A BIENNIAL FLOWERING PLANT PREFERRING FULL SUN. IN ITS SECOND YEAR IT WILL GET TO 2 M TALL AND FLOWERS AND SEEDS BEFORE DYING. IT GROWS AS AN ANNUAL IN THE SUBTROPICS AND PREFERS A SEMI SHADED AREA.
GERMINATION GUIDE: .SOW SEVERAL SEEDS ON THE SURFACE OF EACH POT(THEY NEED LIGHT TO GERMINATE). THEY HAVE A LOW GERMINATE RATE SO USING SEVERAL SEEDS IN EACH POT HELPS ENSURE THAT YOU OBTAIN A PLANT IN EACH POT. PLACE EACH POT IN A PLASTIC BAG AND REFRIGERATE THEM FOR TWO TO THREE WEEKS. THEN PLACE IN A SUNNY PROTECTED POSITION AND KEEP MOIST. IF MORE THAN ONE SEEDLING IS IN A POT CUT OFF THE WEAKEST WITH SCISSORS SO AS TO NOT DISTURB THE ROOTS OF THE STRONGEST ONE. PLANT OUR WHEN STRONG ENOUGH BUT TAKE CARE NOT TO DISTURB ROOTS .
